what is the elevate series?
The Elevate Series is a new and unique take on what the industry knows “workshops” to be. Knowing the power of teams who lift each other up with their individual talents and gifts, The Elevate Series, puts an emphasis on working together with three cohesive team elements. Wedding planners and designers, Florists, and Photographers are all given the opportunity to grow together, and individually, through teaching and hands on development. The Elevate Series hosts an annual retreat every year, as well as, multiple “mini series” throughout the year. Wendy Kay of Birds of a Feather Events, Charla Storey of Charla Storey Photography, and Maxine Owens of Max Owens Design facilitate the environments that creatives long for and need to nourish their industry. As teachers and craftsmen, this trio is honest in their approach and leave it all on the table. Something, we can all agree, is rare, needed, and invaluable.

Our Annual Retreat
A three day retreat at the breathtaking Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina, the annual Elevate Series Retreat is unlike any other learning experience available. Classes concentrated on foundational business practices, the beauty of building a team of creatives in your area, honest and in depth round table discussions, and break out sessions per specialty leave retreat attendees feeling refreshed, challenged, and capable for their next season. Attendees work alongside Wendy, Charla, and Maxine to produce two incredible shoots, learning alongside them, and gaining hands on experience with gathering insight into the work it takes for each component to come together, and produce a cohesive and uplifting product for all to flourish. Stunning visuals are created to elevate attendees portfolios, while relationships are formed to grow deep roots in community. Every evening is spent breaking bread in breathtaking locations, laughing, learning, and getting to know one another. With three of experts in the top of their field truly laid open to share their knowledge, secrets, and passions, this event is an immediate “level up” for those who come eager, willing, and ready to lean in and learn. This includes chef prepared traditional Low Country favorites made from fresh, local, seasonal, and organic ingredients, harvested fresh from the on-site organic farm and gardens for all of our lunches and dinners.
Mini-Series
Hosted throughout the year, “Mini Series” focuses on topics taught at the Annual Retreat in condensed form. From styling and wedding design, to iPhone photography and social media strategy, these learning opportunities are satisfying mini bites from The Elevate Series that leave you satiated, but inevitably, wanting more.
